Not much to report about yesterday. I woke up late, went to a coffee shop to write and then tried to go to Meow Wolf (link). I've been putting off Meow Wolf until my last day and when I got there the line was a half a block long - outside - in the rain. Nope! I'm really disappointed that I didn't make it there because I've heard so much about it. I'm now hoping to stop on my way back to the airport on Wednesday. Fingers crossed!
Since it was cold and rainy I decided to just drive to Taos earlier than planned (Ha! As if I have a plan!). I'm sure the drive is gorgeous, but the rain and fog hampered my view. I'm feeling lucky to have had such nice weather so far.
Once I arrived in town I was surprised to see the population of 5,763 on the city limits sign. For some reason I thought it would be much bigger. A local I meet said "Taos' reputation is much larger than it actually is" So true. I wondered around town getting my bearings and checked into my Airbnb.
After I settled in I went to a local bar and grill to watch the Chiefs game. It was interesting that I was sitting at the bar with someone from Overland Park, Kansas on one side and someone who went to school at Columbia, Missouri on the other. Small world.
Oh, and here's a link to my Airbnb in Santa Fe (link). My host, Gabby was very nice and the house was a great, quiet stay. I've started to realize that there are a few types of people who host with Airbnb. Gabby is the - Young adult who lives alone and is using Airbnb to help pay for her house and treats her guests as a roommate. My host in Albuquerque was - Older adult who lives alone and is using Airbnb to have company/meet people and treats her guests like a guest. I've had other types of hosts but these two are the most prevalent.
I really enjoyed Santa Fe. It's a very pretty town with almost every building made of Adobe. When I drove up to Los Alamos I was surprised to see almost no Adobe. When I asked my tour guide about that she said that most of the houses in Los Alamos were slapped up by the military for the Manhattan Project and that Santa Fe has some housing regulations requiring adobe.
Now I'm off to see what today brings. I have a list of sights to see in the area and I'm not going to be deterred by the inch of snow on the ground!
