For lunch I took my leftovers from last night and some farmers market finds down to the river. I enjoyed people watching. I didn't enjoy the train which blasted a horn within 10 feet of where I was sitting. But that's part of the town's charm...all the trains, boats and the stupid music from the touristy steam boat (so annoying).
Back to Main Street to listen to a musician, Liz Bentley, perform at Finn's restaurant. I ended up across the street for a cold brew coffee at Java Jive's (oh so good!!) and sat in front of their store to sip, read and listen to the music. I found very
interesting people to talk to. Very chill, relaxing environment. I don't normally sit around listening to musicians like that and I found it to be very enjoyable.
Excited to say I didn't take a nap yesterday!! Maybe I'm catching up on my sleep or maybe it was all the coffee!
I'm leaving today, headed north to the Madison, Wisconsin area. I've really enjoyed my lazy time on the
Mississippi river. I highly recommend my Airbnb Host Alissa and would recommend her if you're ever in Hannibal. She is a warm, open, interesting person and I appreciated her recommendations for restaurants and attractions in her home town. This was my first Airbnb experience and it could not have been better!! Oh and I couldn't sleep last night for the first time. I think it's not that I've so tired...it's just that I have no responsibility. Today I'm driving and have to check out by 10 so I couldn't sleep in. Glad I decided on a 5 night stay.
