We did some rough planning last night and I think we're going to head inland soon. Neither of us want to drive in the big cities, so we aren't. This trip is more about nature than cities.
One thing I forgot to mention yesterday about the redwoods.... we drove down The Avenue of the Giants and were unimpressed. Similar to our experience in the rain forests, we enjoyed the lesser known parks to the famous ones. The Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park was truly awesome.
Driving through the Chandelier Tree in Leggett, California
Glass Beach, Fort Bragg, CA
Glass Beach got its name because the locals used this beach as a dump.
Over time the waves turned the trashed glass into "sea glass".
If you can zoom in, you can see lots of sea glass among the rocks.
Views along California Highway 1. This road was VERY twisty and curvy. We were going 10 to 20 MPH along cliff roads with no guard rails. Yikes!
Good bye to the Pacific! We headed inland to Monte Rio for the the night.
Tomorrow we head to Napa Valley for wine tasting!
