I totally forgot to mention yesterday...
Mount Whitney is the tallest mountain in the contiguous United States and the Sierra Nevada mountain range, with an elevation of 14,505 feet. Not that we drove to the top, but still pretty cool when you consider that...Death Valley's Badwater Basin is the lowest elevation in North America, at 282 feet below sea level. Our hotel clerk pointed out that both of these are in the same county. Pretty amazing country out here.
